As the DeFi Marketing Lead, you will lead all marketing efforts to position the Superchain as the premier destination for DeFi. You will own the strategy and execution of initiatives that drive adoption and growth across the ecosystem, ensuring that opportunities unique to the Superchain are understood and embraced by partners, developers, and users alike.

The DeFi Marketing Lead will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive product marketing strategies, including conducting user and developer research. Success in this role will be measured by high-signal metrics like growth in TVL across the Superchain’s DeFi ecosystem, measured month-over-month and tied to marketing campaigns, and number of developers adopting Superchain Interop tools like SuperchainERC20.

You will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, including product, devx, partnerships, BD, and communications, to bring your strategic vision to life. As a key contributor to the overall growth and success of the organization, you will have a direct impact on the trajectory of the protocol and the broader ecosystem.

What are the role responsibilities?

  • Align marketing efforts with Superchain and Optimism’s broader mission to strengthen Ethereum's ecosystem.

  • Engage app developers and end users to gather insights on how interoperability will improve their experience, leveraging feedback to inform strategy and product improvements.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, and the largest ecosystems in the Superchain to craft a compelling narrative that highlights Superchain Interop as the foundation of the next generation of DeFi.

  • Conduct product teardown sessions and analyze competitor designs to develop a messaging matrix that highlights Superchain advantages.

  • Define and lead the overarching marketing strategy for DeFi applications on the Superchain, focusing on growth, adoption, and engagement.

  • Collaborate closely with the product and technical teams to gain a deep understanding of the product features, and target audiences.

  • Be the voice of the customer and represent the customer’s technical needs and market trends to internal teams at Optimism.

  • Work with our Partnerships team to run effective campaigns, building collateral that incentivizes top-tier DeFi apps and developers to work with Optimism.

  • Stay current with industry trends and competitive dynamics, integrating these insights into marketing strategies and campaigns.

  • Own and manage key internal and external collateral such as pitch decks, case studies, enablement assets, product pages, and user comms.

  • Build and nurture a vibrant DeFi community through social media interactions, forums, and community calls.

  • Collaborate with our communications team and strategists to execute high-impact product launches and feature releases.

What skills do you bring?

  • Deep understanding of Ethereum, its values, and its ecosystem.

  • Exceptional research skills

  • Deep understanding of DeFi concepts, blockchain technology, and the Ethereum ecosystem.

  • Proven experience leading multi-channel marketing strategies, especially in a highly technical or competitive market.

  • Creative and strategic thinking, capable of developing innovative marketing strategies that align with technical product features.

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, essential for working with cross-functional teams and diverse audiences.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform and optimize campaigns.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage comprehensive marketing campaigns from start to finish.

  • Experience working with developer audiences and creating marketing strategies for technical products is a strong plus.
