About Agora

Agora is working towards a new paradigm for group collaboration by creating the tools for communities to work together onchain. This is not yet-another-productivity-saas. We believe that to enable the next era of collaboration, we need software that can bend current and create new incentives. No amount of removing friction will change how we work together if our reward functions are misaligned.

So to this end, Agora is working tirelessly on the best end-to-end governance platform for crypto protocols – the first instance of at scale onchain collaboration. Leading communities like Optimism, ENS, Uniswap, Nouns, and more rely on Agora to coordinate their community around critical protocol upgrades, ecosystem funding, and steward their ecosystem for the future.

But that’s not where we stop. Our goal is to build deep collaboration tools for people who couldn’t care less about crypto so that one day (soon), your friends back home are using Agora without ever knowing we’re on Ethereum.

What you'll do

Head of Operations or Operations & Special Projects are perhaps fitting titles for this role as well. Some of your days may end up looking like rolling up your sleeves and cleaning up databases, while other times may require you to run an important meeting with high stakes customers. The tasks you’ll do will vary, but they are all critical tasks that the company needs done, if not you, then it'd be the CEO or co-founders doing them. Some projects and todos may last a few a months, others might be a one-off task, but ultimately your ability to add leverage to our team is going to be a key ingredient in the success of this company.

This could be the right fit for you if you’re excited about some of the type of tasks below:

  • Build out an implementation flow for our new customer segment. Run with it and do everything from planning, calls with customer, to writing documents and making spreadsheets to checkoff the checklist at hand.
  • Categorize 300 messy transactions so that we can get ourselves a clean set of books. After you've gained a good handle on the process at hand, then hire & train & set success KPIs for someone else to take over.
  • Take a suggestion or customer feedback. Many of these problems span across a range of legal, compliance and product requirements that are non-linear. Investigate and figure out a course of action, make a decision. Oh, you only got 2 days.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an operator at heart who is hungry to roll up their sleeves and excited about the future of governance and coordinating the commons.

We’d love to work with someone who is:

  • Strong work ethic - you’re hungry and eager to learn a lot.
  • Low ego - you believe that no task is too small or ‘beneath’ you, you’re willing to roll up your sleeves to ‘do what needs to get done’, you also believe that no task is impossible. You’re relentlessly resourceful and a mindset to figure things out.
  • Keen interest in business and building things from 0 to 1 (else you’ll hate this)
  • Self-starter
  • You love onchain governance like us :)
  • Bonus if you’re technical or have built things (non-software counts too!)

What we offer

  • Ownership – both in responsibility and equity. We’re a small team with high trust and expectations of each other. We want you to own a sizable chunk of of the product and company, and structure our compensation accordingly.
  • Competitive benefits – in addition to good health and dental benefits, we trust all employees with a no-limit company card and equal access to our executive assistant to use however they see fit to increase their productivity.
  • A strong team – we’re a small team that values experience, character and integrity. You’ll work with peers you respect, and who respect you.
  • A seat at the table – you will come to all off sites, and be part of all strategic discussions. We’re hiring for a technical leader, and will treat you as such.
  • A path to grow – our goal is to retain all early hires as senior leaders as the company scales. We believe folks with the best expertise and deep context should lead organizations, even if they don’t traditionally self-identify as people managers.
  • Remote friendly, but PST or EST timezones preferred.
